Foreword: DORway receives a lot of heartfelt emails and submissions – sometimes from some very talented individuals. It’s our wish to highlight some of this correspondence in our new member section. This one is from Sharif. We were impressed with her graphic skills – particularly withe alphabet created from diet coke spills. And even more impressed by her desire to help others. We’ve included a sneak peak in the image, but to really appreciate her work, follow the link. Thank you, Sharif!

Dear DORway,
Last year i became aware of aspartame and the dangers associated with this nasty substance, after talking to an ex-pharmacuetical worker I delved deeper into the health risks of aspartame, i found your site very useful and i thank you for that. When working as a tutor for a group of kids aged around 10, I was worried by the amount of aspartame filled drinks they’re parents were buying them from the vending machines outside: ‘Fanta’ ‘Diet Coke’ etc. So as a graphic design student, I felt I should make people aware of this. I created an alphabet using diet coke and made slogans to warn people away from these drinks. As i found your site so helpful in researching i would like you to post my imagery on your website: http://www.behance.net/gallery/Foundation-/398196

Yours hopefully,
Sharif

  1. I’d like to know why Snopes.com has listed the dangers of aspartame as being false, in other words, it’s an urban myth. Has snopes a vested interest in Aspartame?

  2. Obviously, anything I might have to say is speculation, as I don’t know what their connection is, if any, but I find it suspect, especially with so much official documentation proving otherwise. What they haven’t proven to the satisfaction of the powers that be is that it causes cancer in people, but they have shown it to cause cancer, tumors and various other conditions in lab rats. Your guess is as good as mine!

The owners of “Snopes.com” are a married couple with absolutely NO chemical education whatsoever. They are strongly liberal and no one truly accepts their word on faith! RATHER, use either http://www.urbanlegends.about.com or http://www.truthorfiction.com as the only two VALID sources to research truth from lies.
