Aspartame is just one of the many drugs which is pushed into the market an sustained in use because of a huge financial potential. For drug cos generally the financial implications take the front seat and quite often sufficient trials are not done and the product is introduced. Long term effects are not known and this does huge damage by the time it is detected. The worry some factor is not this but the reluctance to withdraw a product or to push it to third world where legal and social impacts are quite premature. Most then get away by doing this, little bothered that a life is a life anywhere.
